Assonance

Assonance is similar to alliteration in that it has to do with the repetition of sounds. It is markedly different than alliteration, however, because it focuses on the repeition or patterns of vowel sounds rather than consonants.

An example of both alliteration and assonance:

"She sells seashells by the seashore."

An example of just assonance:

“Thou still unravished bride of quietness,/Thou foster child of silence and slow time” (“Ode to a Grecian Urn,” John Keats).
