touch-driven computer screen

We will control computers just using our hands and voices no keyboard or mouse, like in the movie Minority Report staring Tom Cruise, the computer screen and different windows were hologram images projected all around him that he can control with just his hands and voice commands.

I watch a video of Jeff Han a research scientist for New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences.   Where, he demonstrates—for the first time publicly—his intuitive, “interface-free,”touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure. (Recorded February 2006 in Monterey, CA. Duration: 09:32) On TED Talks under August 1, 2006: The Future of Computing/Jeff Han, at www.ted.com/tedtalks/

He demonstrates that his drafting table style screen has multiple points that can be used at the same time unlike touch screens that are out now, like for PDA’s and tablet PC’s that use a pen tool for single point function at one time.  He shows that he can use multiple fingers and users at once to access everything that you would normally need a keyboard and mouse to do.

touch screen computers is the way to go. The mouse is trouble. It gets stuck. hard to handle at times and cumbersome. If the information is right there who needs a mouse?

Like you said, its right out of the movie the Minority Report. What is intriquing is how the creative ideas found in Sci-fi are becoming tangible realities in our everyday world..
