Create a system where all electronic materials could be made out of more recycable and less toxic material. Have engineers design electronics which are easy and cheap to repair instead of having to buy a new item every time the old one brakes.
The product that is being advertised in this ad is TAB energy drink. An energy drink that was designed for women and which centers their advertisements on how they can appeal to women in all aspects of their lives.
In the link above the actual TAB energy drink commercial has a line which states ” It takes a lot of energy TO BE A WOMAN.”
Detail analysis of the ad:
The product is a vibrant pink which is very appealing to women. The woman in wearing a very sexy yet high class pink dress, she is wearing luxurious jewelry and has what appears to be a very expensive handbag. She is drinking the TAB energy drink on a martini glass(high class) which is standing on a table that has a pink cover and pink flowers.
Overall message of the ad:
“Fake is for last night, not handbags.”
A woman is capable of having a fake “night” with an individual, but not capable of having a fake handbag.
She rather look good than feel good!
How is a woman capable of doing this?
In my opinion the way this woman is being characterized in this ad is in the following way:
She appears to be a very high class and confident woman. She likes to be pampered and loves attention. Likes to be invited to fancy restaurants by high class men who she can be flirt, tease and take control of. The reason why she is capable of doing this is because she has the energy to do it, and TAB gives her the type of energy a woman needs.
This photograph was taking during a protest by PETA activist to show the public, mostly the meat eaters, how we are animals too (living things) and how no one would like to end up all bloody wrapped up in plastic sitting in a supermarket freezer. While looking at this image i was shocked on how bold these activist are and how they can take the idea of packed meat into something so… impacting!. I believe that the subject, when being gazed at pertrates a sense of vulnerability or weakness due to the position and form in which the human body is being displayed. Although during this protest there were male subjects, there was a larger amount of females. What I can conclude about gender roles in this image and the whole protest is that a female body when being exposed to the public in the nude and, in this case, laying down on the floor bloody sends a stronger message of helplessness than a male body.
After watching Zizek’s lecture on Cultural Capitalism several times, I was finally able to get an idea of the message he is trying to convey. He talks about the idea or act of charity and how it has changed throughout the years. One of the things he said that really caught my attention was when he said that “the remedies are part of the disease”, so basically by dropping your change in the donation box after you make a purchase at a McDonald’s is really, like Zizek says, prolonging the problem.
I don’t consider my self a philanthropist but I donate once in a while. I don’t believe in giving change to a begger on the subway, but donating to an organization that is actually bring some change makes me believe that my donation is really going to help someone out there. But here comes Zizek with his ideas and absurd examples and you know what..THEY MAKE SENSE!, well at least to me they do. For those who have not yet seen the complete video more than 3 times …do it!, it’s going to be more clear the 4th time, besides you get to watch the really cool animation by RSA!!.
