Robert moses was not a topic that we had to blog about in class, but i felt that the English class should know a little more about him. i thank izzy for introducing such a person to my attention. i was surprised that i had never heard of him when he has done so much to the city i live in and love. From all the articles that i have read about him it either goes one way or another, People see him as a genius or people hate him. in my opinion i see him and admire his level of ambition and dedication to what he did. he came came up with an idea and he made it happen. Not a lot of people can say they did everything they have wanted to accomplish but i think Robert Moses got pretty close to. The thing that made people dislike him was his tactics to achieve what he wanted. Many people wont know that he built parks, highways, bridges, playgrounds, housing, tunnels, beaches, zoos, civic centers, exhibition halls and the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. For his high ways hundreds of miles long, he had to take people’s properties houses. If anyone was affected my this i would only imagine they would dislike him. When i look at his accomplishment i just see him visionary who has benefited us now in the present day. i enjoyed one of his greatest works directly this past summer. i went to Jones beach at least twice every week. He was the one who turned Jones beach to the beach it is now. He is going to be my topic for this final essay. i will write about the controversy of building north and south sate parkway in long. Its local to me because that was my way to the beach and to work all summer.
IF any body is as interested in him as much as me you can read more about him by going to the link by the new york times written the day after he died.
